Could it be possible that jeans have not fit the same since the invention and adoption of sanforized non shrink materials? Roy and I believe this to be accurate. The high shrink denim cut lengthwise for the rear yoke, front facings, and waistband shrinks at a higher rate than the rest of the jeans pieces creating a contour that hugs the waist and upper hip while providing ease of movement in the seat and thigh. This original fit has been lost and cannot be duplicated with non shrink materials. With a dwindling supply of original Cone Mills White Oak unsanforized denim we wanted to figure out a way to create this fit using more readily available non shrink denim and canvas.
After many trials our solution follows- quilt our Homespun high shrink denim to the key shrink pieces. The denim shrinks up with the first wash mimicking our tried and true shrink to fit pattern. In addition to the fit, the quilted pieces create a unique design detail.
These jeans use an American milled 12oz duck Canvas available in a bunch of great colors. The quilting process adds even more time to an already lengthy single needle construction process but the fabric is readily available thus the reduced price point. Cut is the same pattern as the jeans and sizes are based on your true waist. As with all my products these are made to order so minor adjustments can be requested after ordering.
